I have a similar situation at one destination I go to once a week. I can ride the wrong way on a one-way street for one block, or circle around a length of 4-5 blocks to end up in the same place. Rather than ride the wrong way in the street, I usually choose to ride slowly on the sidewalk. It's only for one block, then the street becomes two-way again. Not ideal, but the best compromise, IMO.
