I just ordered a Nelson Longflap with the pockets. I was not planning on removing the pockets but since you own a Carradice bag can I ask you if you think there is a way to add D rings behind the pockets for a shoulder strap. I've seen a hack where D rings are added to the leather straps that go into the saddle loops.

Like I said I haven't received the bag yet but I do plan on undoing the stitch on the upper part of the pocket to get a D ring attaced to a piece of canvas webbing.
