We did about 10 days on the Katy last year with my wife on a pump. She had no problems and did very little training before we went. The Katy is pretty flat and we weren't doing monster mileage but she had no problems. You do need to pay attention to your basal rate or you can end up with a pretty low sugar. She usually forgot about it until we had been riding for a while but it never got too bad.

For carrying the insulin, I'd suggest a Camelbak packed with ice each morning. Cold water is great for drinking, the ice keeps you cool and it will keep your insulin cool too.

You should probably do plenty of training and experimenting before you set off, however. And, as always, talk to your doctor
