I will be starting a ride down Baja in two weeks. I will probably cross at Tecate and avoid the major border unpleasantness of Tijuana. I really don't expect much promblem after the border until I get closer to Cancun i.e. more border activity. All borders seem to be the problem areas and while I don't expect to be a target it is possible to get caught up in something.

Here in Vancouver we have just had our 13th or 14th killing on the streets at all hours of the day or night spread all over the lower mainland. It is our own version of a gang turf war that has only been underway for a few weeks. They seem to be everywhere not just in Mexico.

It was interesting to watch the BBC documentary The Man Who Cycled the World. Mark Beaumont's only mugging happened in the USA and his only collision with a car happened there too. He did manage to set a new world record cycling 29,445.81 kms in 194 days 17 hours.
