Steel is good for riders who want the smug feeling that they've figured something out that the masses don't understand.
I would be one of those. I also don't like the idea of being a lacky to the global military-industrial complex in their robotized factories when I can ride a wonderful, lugged steel bike made by the human hand and eye. Let the lemmings ride their throwaway plastic bikes, in their throwaway plastic lives. How's that for feeling smug?
