So the wheel caused the damage, but not because it was loose.e hassle of a seller on ebay having to spend a couple hours fixing some problems is a huge deal.
yeah the axle had a bit of the clearcoat in where the skewer lives. didn't find a loose cable tie, though. i can't imagine it was anything but the threads that did the damage. -- maybe if all works out i can get the bike back from UPS (unless i get the money, then i guess i start at square 1) and get it fixed.
I've been researching this whole UPS/FedEx/USPS insurance/damages claim system and i'm reading that UPS is the worst in terms of filing claims etc. i feel as though i've stepped into a nightmare. most of the stories end in disappointment for the buyer, as the whole system is very seller-biased. my biggest fear now is that i will end up w/o the bike (damaged though it is) and w/o my money. i'm trying to stay on top of the situation though--UPS customer service is a bunch of folks who know next to nothing except what they're told to do, though i have talked to a few who were actually friendly and helpful. no offense any UPS employees out there but when yer on this end of your system it's like being blindfolded, turned around and shoved.
