Bikes: Felt Z25 & Specialized Rockhopper

2 LBSs I visited indicated Trek buys carbon frames from Giant. If so, why buy a Trek?

I've been at a number of LBSs the past couple of weeks as I search for my new bikes. What I found surprising is that 2 of the shops I visited indicated that the Trek Madone Carbon Frames are made by Giant out of Taiwan. Others LBS shops I asked were either not sure or very non-commital on this quesiton.

I guess if that is true I'm trying to find a reason I should buy a Trek over a Giant. The Giant Defy Advanced 1 has comperable parts (Shimano Dura-Ace/Ultegra mix) at several hundred dollars less then the Trek Madone 5.5 (SRAM Force and Bontrager).

Is it just me or does the Giant then sound like a better idea if it feels good when you ride it? Sounds like your paying more just for the Trek name.
