Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

The spikes I've seen on MTB shoes all use the very common M5x.8 thread (same as water bottle cage bolts) and have a small hex (9 or 10 mm?) at the base so a suitable socket, maybe a deep well, will unscrew them.
