Hello from Seattle

Hi there.
Just signing up here, as it seems like a great resource, and a good place to get some answers on some of my more obscure bike questions.
I've lived in Seattle for 2 years, and enjoy riding here very much.
I would classify myself as an "urban cyclist" above anything else. I worked as a courier a little over 10 years back, and now help put together non-sanctioned bike races and events in Seattle. Though alleycats are sometimes frowned on, and are controversial, the reality that I find, is that non-sanctioned races have helped strengthen our bicycling community and culture, as well as encourage street smarts, and build cycling skills.
I have also been working with a few friends getting "Emerald Sprints" going here in Seattle, and I'm really excited about it. If you haven't raced on rollers, it's the most fun you can have on your bike, while not going anywhere.
That being said, my bikes include:
  • Brakeless fixed gear (daily driver)
  • 1958 Frejus Pista, with an inch pitch drive train
  • early 1980's Colnago, with pantographed groupo
  • 1977 Shwinn Typhoon
  • Kona Kaboom SS Mt. Bike
I love cycling culture, and as a viable transportation alternative, and am a bit of a bike nut. I guess if you have any other questions, please contact me. I look forward to being part of this online community.

Keep the rubber side down,
Ryan.
