After first starting this thread in the wee hours last night I've contemplated the responses I was fortunate enough to quickly receive from ENJOI07 and LEAKYSIEVE. Now, having read the other responses as the day has pedaled on, I have decided to keep the CAAD9 and will make an appt to get a fitting when I return to CA.
As many people have mentioned, Time Trialing is at best very far down the road for me. I don't know if my back problem will ultimately limit what kind of Cycling I do however I am determined to RIDE as soon as possible and enjoy every moment!
Very sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to share your thoughts and ideas.

With a gift in that context, I'd hang the bike on the wall and never let it go. I'd be pissed if any harm came to it.
