+1. I've been riding beastly heavy bikes all winter (that'd by my hybrid and MTB) since winter brings road crud that I don't like trying to roll over on my road bike.

Result? I'm at least 1mph faster than last fall, maybe 2. Just for kicks, I sprinted up the steepest hill on my commute at 20mph. I'd never been able to pull better than 18.5 before.

So thanks winter! Also thanks to my 5lb suspension fork on the MTB, and my 30+lb hybrid that's generously advertised as having CroMo main tubes...and probably pig iron stays.
