Hi guys,

Thanks for your responses. I'm buying the bike with pounds in the UK, so there is no problem with exchange rate. All the bikes I mentioned can be bought for roughly £400, however I just noticed EvansCycles are not selling either the Specialized Sirrus Comp 2007 or the Elite 2008 any more - they were by far the cheapest retailer! The Comp 2007 is now out as it is over budget at £700.

I can actually get the Elite 2008 for £450 but wondered about the Specialized Sirrus Sport 2009 at £390 or do you think I should even push it up to £537 for the Elite 2009? As you say the 2008 frame may be better and it is a similar bike but much cheaper.

The Trek 7.3 fx 2008 is also an idea however it is slower than the Sirrus range apparently, although the Sirrus is unforgiving on any rough road surfaces and apparently the back end is quite volatile in certain conditions. The Sirrus are flat bar road bikes whereas the Trek is a hybrid - is that basically correct?
I can get the Trek 7.3 fx 2008 for £342.55 and the 2009 for £424. Any thoughts?

I'm aiming to order and buy in the next couple of days.
Which would you buy?

Thanks,
Daniel
