Glenelg Report
Where were you guys??? this is good riding here and after work hours and not on weekends.
Almost didn't make it as I left the house at 5pm and it was 35 miles away (feel like NR driving to ride starts), I hit traffic on 695 in 2 spots. Got there at 540am. As soon as I was clipped in off they went. Must have been 20 people or so. No talking at all just riding, First words I even heard were at mile 15 when Dan introduced himself. Plenty of stop sign running also, cringe.
I wore 2 layers up top, plus the windbeaker and my semi-heavy gloves, I though it was going to drop to 40 or so, at the end I was sweating my butt off, feet, hands, I was sooo over dressed. I could have wore shorts and jersey and still been hot for sure on this ride.
I hung with the front half for the first few miles, it was fast from the get go. High 20's on the flats, tight fast corners. After the first few miles the "A Train" took off, when I say took off, I never saw them again. Myself, Danny, Stuart and another guy. We all hung together, well behind the a train and well ahead of the others that were behind, due to darkness setting in around 7am, we did the 24 mile loop. Speed wise my Avg speed was nearly 20mph til the last few miles and we hit some pretty good hills. I did get up the hills pretty good. Not as good as I can but 2 months of low stress riding and more than enough soda will do that.
I was soo thankful for only 24 miles, It felt good knowing I could keep up them and not die.
I did get home and promptly made a second plate of dinner, steak, potato salad and brocolli, mmm mmm good
Also after seeing how fast the A group was I'm going to need to go ride with the boy so I can feel fast again.
I'm going to try to go next tues, if not I will go the following.
Total 24 miles
17.8 avg
2000 feet climbing (I'll know for sure after stuart post it, Danny had 1800+ on his but he said stuarts is gps tracked)
