Sounds like a B72 could be too wide then. Since you`ve got the mounting problem and keep the seat lower than most, did you look at the new "crank forward bikes"? Made this way so that you can do just that, put both legs on the road when stopped but still stretch out your legs when pedaling (if that issomething you`d want).

I think the Electra bikes is one of many options.
