I'm glad that you survived, and nobody else was hurt. Best wisnes on your continuing recovery.

My stepson, Jerry, was in a serious accident a few years ago. He also almost died and was in the hospital for many weeks. He still has serious problems from the accident--surgery a month ago, and he'll need a hip replacement before long. The whole experience has been hell for him, and also for me.

I don't understand why our society accepts the fatalities and serious injuries that go along with driving cars. Almost 40,000 Americans die in accidents every year, and hundreds of thousands worldwide. I guess that cars are so fun and convenient that it's OK that thousands of people are hurt and killed.
