This will work, but it might cause more problems than it solves. The function of fore-aft adjustment on a saddle is not reach (from the seat to the handlebars) but rather the relation of your butt to the pedals. Ideally you should adjust the seat position first, independent of reach, and then change the reach by swapping out for a different stem.
