The rear derailleur will take a 28T cog max. It may not handle a compact crank as the cage is short.
I prefer a 39/52 combo over 42/52. I don't know why the industry took 42 as the standard inner ring.
(BCD had a lot to do with that.)
After riding both, a 39 is more useful for everyday riding.
I'd go for a 12-28 cassette and a 38-39 inner ring. Your freehub is an 8spd, means it's HG-C. Don't bother to get an 11T cog.
