I just ended up over the handlebars.

I didn't have a headlight because it broke and I haven't replaced it yet. My bike still has a rear light and reflective tape all over. Still, I just think this guy wasn't paying attention. As long as I wasn't breaking any law, I don't think any fault should be put on me. I mean, I could have just not biked. This situation happens day or night in NYC.

What would applying the back brake have done? In retrospect I should have hit the back brake hard and then hit the front brake. I just never expected to fly over like that. I've had a similar situation on a greenway over the summer. I was going WAY faster than that night. Guy makes a turn to my lane to exit the greenway and I almost hit him. Front brakes only, there rear lifted. So based on that experience, didn't think I'd go over. My bike is also very back heavy: Shimano IGH and a Tubus rack.

Thanks for the well wishes again although I wouldn't want to wish the other guy future harm. I had my chance to take him out with me, so I'm more mad at myself than at him. Ah well.

How long does it take to heal? Spring's coming and I wanted to play basketball real soon.
