As many of you know, I took advantage of Nashbar's recent sale and picked up a white Regal a week or so ago. I finally slapped it on the Palo Alto, and took it for a spin yesterday.
After 46 miles and 3200' of climbing, I'm thinking this might be the best saddle I've ever perched on. For the first time ever, a saddle disappeared underneath me. I never thought about it once, except when thinking the longish nose was nice to have as I changed positions on climbs and in rollers. The jury is still out of course, as a 46 mile ride is a pittance fro saddle testing. But it looks very, very promising!
Now, my butt is pretty immune to saddle woes - I've ridden a ton of different saddles, some cheap, some expensive, and some in-between. I've only ever hated one, and have more or less gotten along with the rest with varying degrees of comfort. I've had some that were pretty good, and have done a bunch of centuries without too much complaint.
Surprisingly, I never cottoned to the Brooks, and the B17 I have on the Cinelli is just "ok". I like the Italia Flite Ti, but I must admit that after 80-100 miles on it I'm ready to get off. I thought the Performance Forté Pro RS1 Saddle was nice (and inexpensive), but after I rode the Regal I think I'll put that one one something else.
Oh - and the white Regal looks pretty darn spiffy on the Palo Alto. It really makes the whole bike "pop". Bonus!!!
