The real point here is that timmah gets to feel so very self-important by mocking other people who buy lighter/more expensive parts, and presuming they do it because they think it'll make them faster, while admitting that he also buys lighter/more expensive parts for whatever reason, but of course, NOT because he would ever believe it'll make him faster. Oh no.

The sub-text is that timmah is currently under- or un-employed, and therefore has a lot more time on his hands to make these condescending posts, as well as the insecurity that motivates the need to do so. Combine that with an overly long winter, and it comes out BF gold!
