No, it does 100%. I was making a point that the shaving off weight is the final step, the whip cream and cherry, the last thing on the list to "make me as fast as possible". Its not the FIRST step or the middle one tho. Lance and Bob both are somewhere on that path.
Rolling resistance is a true force, it is also effected by weight. More weight = more rolling resistance. You want to spend $1000 for a light bike. Fine. You want to spend $1000 because you like how the better stuff looks or works. Fine. You want to spend $1000 because you think that it's a good way to make you faster by making your bike lighter, and you are not in pristine shape, you could spend your money elsewhere and actually be faster. That's my point. That's all.
