One common misconception of ABS is that you can stop faster. ABS actually increases stopping distance, over someone that is properly trained and knows threashold braking. (having a drivers license does not mean properly trained) What it does, is allow a driver to maintain control and manouver while they are stomping the brakes to the floor. Which drivers tend to do with standard or antilock.
I just wish that people were actually trained to drive before they could get a license. It would cut the amount of cars on the road down considerably.
