Shows what you know. Ever ridden external BB cranks? Square taper can't even come close to external BB in terms of stiffness.

I'd rather take Omniums with the external BB over some Sugino 75s with a Phil Wood BB. If you've ridden and worked on both, you'd know that the external BB setup is far beefier and stiffer than square taper. Sugino 75s are good cranks but it comes down to the weakest link in the chain... the ST spindle can't compare to the 2pc external setup.

Now if Sugino made the 75 in a 2pc external BB version, i'd take a look into those. But for now, i'm through with square taper for any of my bikes where performance is a concern.
