If your fit is wrong, then you should look for a good fitter and figure out your fit dimensions before buying, If your fit is OK, but the bike is too large, that does not prevent a comparison. A bike that is too large might have 1-2cm too much reach, so you have to use a stem that is shorter than desired. The idea is to figure out how the new and old frames compare, so you can correct the obvious problems.
I'm your height, but probably have longer legs (83cm cycling inseam and 73-74cm saddle height). I could make either frame fit since they are so close, but I would chose the 52cm.
If you want fit advice, post a cycling inseam or better yet, an accurate saddle height, plus your saddle to bar drop.
