I just got a full carbon fork (fork and steerer) and was a little worried about it. But from what I have seen most carbon fork failures are carbon forks bonded to aluminum steerers. It seems the weak point is usually the bond between the carbon and the aluminium. I hear of carbon failures but I think the vast majority are from crash damage, I think it is very rare they fail just riding along.
