shimano has a one year warranty on parts.
3 Years on Dura Ace and XTR, 2 years on all other shimano parts, and 1 year on footwear clothing and wheels.
The shifter is most likely broken. Its been happening to 105 and tiagra shifters. Take it back to the shop and warranty it.
