A comma splice is where you put two independent clauses (full sentences) together with a comma.


I.E. "The cat's feet hung out of the bag, it was a big cat."

as opposed to the correct;

The cat's feet hung out of the bag; it was a big cat.

or

The cat's feet hung out of the bag. It was a big cat.

or

The cat's feet hung out of the bag, because it was a big cat.

etc.
