The Looks won't help you with this problem. They are very slippery. I've never ridden Shimano so I can't compare them, but everyone I know who does says they're not nearly as slippery as the Look cleats.
(FWIW - I gave up on my Keo's after a year of use and still missing insertion about 1 in 5 tries, so I'm using CB Quattros now)
