I had a Nishiki Semi Pro and a Pro back in the early 70s, my first "seroius" bikes, I bought the semi-pro too big and sold it to a college student, eventually saved enough to buy the Pro from a neighbor. It had plastic filled Araya tubular rims as I recall, and a cool matte black head tube combined with brown-green metallic paint and chrome lugs...I thought it was "the cat's ass", but alas it was stolen when I left it unattended for "an instant" to return a library book. That led to my next "real" bike a Gitane TDF that passed from the fellow student who had bought it to ride in Italy as an amateur racer, to my buddy and then to me. The "racer" was embarassed by the rest of the Italians for showing up with a French bike (stupid Americano!) so he ditched it quick upon returning to Calif. for a Bianchi...which I also bought off him many years later. Kept the Gitane for many, many years...Thanks for letting me drift on...
