How long do you require a frame to last before you consider it not to be disposable? I bought a 1986 Trek 1500 off of a retired triathelete, who told me he had over 20,000 miles on it. After I got it, I stripped all the paint off of it and saw no signs of cracks fatigue whatsoever. So a 23 year old bike with hard use that shows no signs of wearing out is disposable? You set your bar pretty high. I'll bet this bike has another 20 years and 20,000 miles in it.

certainly not babied thru its life

as it looks now, ready for another round in life. Isn't that what C&V is about.
