another newbie and HDL

Hi All,

I just joined the forum as I thought my 500-mile triple chainrings had broken teeth and now I believe they were made that way as pointed out by a few at the forum.

I started bike commuting about 1.5 years ago ever since I got bursitis from jogging. Surprisingly, my last cholesterol reading shows big improvement in my HDL number (from lower 40s to 60s) while total cholesterol did not increase. I never had such a good reading of HDL, and I am attributing it to bike riding which I do 40 minutes a day. According to some research, exposing to sunshine helps consume the raw materials used to manufacture LDL. I hope this is true. Will keep riding and do any test in a few months to confirm. Has anyone else observed similar effect?
