i think maybe you could use them if you don't intend on doing any skidding/things that could inadvertently torque your foot(ever had to do some funky acrobatics to keep a trackstand on bad pavement?- you just un-clipped then).

I recommend time atacs if you're the kind of person who wants something that wont break, works every time, and wont unclip and kill you.
I ride them because they don't unclip unless you want to, and I skid all the time.

been using them for a couple years now riding brakeless as a messenger

SPD's are fine if the cleats and pedals are fresh and new and the tension is dialed all the way up, other than that they can and will unclip accidentally sometimes. ATACS wear out in a similar fashion Ive found.

The only thing about the frogs is you can get stuff like snow/ice/mud packed into the cleats if you aren't careful which means some cleaning sometimes.
