I have always found the Velcro straps impede entering and exiting the clip/strap. I have found that heavy lugs in the sole, particularly on the edges, also impede entering and exiting either via the strap or via the pedal's cage.

The Addidas I mentioned has none of those problems. The only thing I don't like about them is their plastic sole. I was going to get a pair and glue a thin rubber heel on to improve traction when walking.
