I was looking for I bike that I would never sell and Ti seemed like the answer. I contacted multiple companies and told them my vision. I didn't know if I needed custom geometry or not, but I wanted a custom paint job. While everyone I talked to was nice, the folks at Lynskey were the first who seemed as excited about my bike as I did.
In 2006, my wife and I lost our son and I wanted a bike to honor him. I would guess that Jamie Pillsbury (at Lynskey) must have sent 20 proofs. I would say, maybe we could try this. He would do it and send a new proof. The experience was wonderful.
I cannot explain how thankful I am for chosing Lynskey. I'm still slower than I want to be, but I think that has nothing to do with the bike. But everytime I ride it, it is special.
My LBS and the folks at Lynskey helped me decide I did not need custom geometry. Since I could go with a stock frame, I purchased the HB320 instead of a level 2 custom (plus the custom paint and etching). I have never regreated my purchase. (I wish I could post pictures but I'm not savvy enough, if someone were to PM me and tell me how, I would be happy to post a ton).
To sum up. Buy the bike that you feel the most. Call up the companies. If the company doesn't want to talk to you, do you want to ride their bike? Good luck, and I hope your bike brings you as much joy as mine does.
+1 on the Lynskey guys keeping in touch. I've got the hb220 custom paint. I also need a PM on how to get pictures on this forum. I just can't. I'm doing something wrong for sure!
