Gears 1 and 2 are the same...no difference in tension. 1 and 2 are both fine on the flats. Gear 3 works as it should for downhill or downwind, spinning slower with greater tension. However, when I need to spin faster gear 1 does not come through. How do I adjust it to make gear one function properly. Or is this tricky? Maybe it's best just to take it back to the dealer rather than screwing things up more?

The shift cable is properly adjusted when the yellow indicator in the window is centred between the two thin lines in second gear. Make sure the unit is pushed as far onto the axle nut as it will go, and the lock bolt is securely tightened.
