My beater road bike and mountain bike, I just use SPD pedals, and my mountain shoes.

My Trek, Ultegra SPD-SL pedals. I thought about going with some 105's for my beater so I could use my road shoes, but I only use my beater on the trainer, or in bad weather, so it's not often, plus my mountain shoes offer a bit better protection in the cold rain when I use my beater bike.
