I'm not sure why that term is so offensive. It must feel that it dimishes you in some way to admit to being a recreational cyclist.


Recreational -- adjective:

1. not for work: done or used for pleasure or relaxation rather than work
2. not for medical purposes: describes controlled drugs taken illegally


Personally, I think the second definition is more apropos to this discussion than the first...
