The theme I see here is that one whose life-demands and environment facilitate car-free living should not be making sweeping judgments about those who use own and drive cars in America today because for many going car-free is very impractical even where possible but certainly not "simple".
I fully understand that some people cannot live car free, and some people cannot even live car light. But there are millions of people who could easily live car free, or car light. Some people have even moved just so they could live car free or car light.
