Since there were no other cars moving in your direction at the time, there was no legal, safety or courtesy reason for you to be riding along the right edge (or in the bike lane). In fact, if you had been riding further to the left (in the center, or to the left or right of it, if oily) then she would have been much more likely to have seen you (since you would have been riding where she was looking -- for cars).

I'm not saying it was your fault, but I do believe you probably could have avoided this collision by riding more defensively (which, for a cyclist, often means becoming more visible by taking the lane). What do you think?
hmmm. Serge: It seems like this thread is another to attack other's riding habits, and spread your 'riding vehicularly' Bul$hit.
