BTW: I don't ride Route 9 & Route 20 too much. I am working my way south across them & have to ride along them for just short stretches - really no way around it. But you reminded me of another kill zone - also I rode in yesterday and was reminded by the fear ...

There's a 2 lane left turn onto Route 9 by Dick's Sporting Goods. We get the green light the exact same time the opposing traffic gets a green light for their two lane left onto Route 9 in the opposite direction. Since I am in the right lane I ride in the opposite direction of their left lane just a foot or two away from cars bursting from their red light going in the opposite direction. It wouldn't take much like a sneeze or a spilled coffee then a twitch of the wheel and I'm buttered pavement toast with jelly oozing out from any available orifice. Oops - sorry if anyone is having breakfast now.
