My first MTB since I was a grade schooler I splurged just a bit, got me something with Juicy 7's and mostly XTR. Fork is Rock Shox Revelation, which I understand is mid to lower end, but for $1200 we can't ask too much. Weight (18 inch) is roughly 28 lbs as I measured standing on the scale with it.

Although I've built enough road bikes, MTB is a bit foreign to me, so some of it is a bit weird. Apparently I need a special pump to put air in my Rock Shox? I'm guessing I need to go a lot more pressure, since I'm a 260lb guy. The booklet suggests as much as 175 psi.

With the lockout set on, I went for a ride around my complex parking lot. The disc brakes, which aren't even worn in yet, are incredible. Shifting is crisper than the 105/ultegra on my road bike, and I like the multiple clicks in both directions on the levers.

This is going to be so fun.
