I recently acquired a used bike, one that I had lusted after for years. One can only imagine how proud I am of my new toy and how much I want it to be the best it can be.
Now this treasure came to me with slight bits of frame rust at the lower extremeties, nothing serious just normal wear and tear type of surface spots from flying road debris and moisture. A couple cross braces between two parallel botom tubes and around one edge of the BB hanger were just starting to show a little rust.
I turned the bike over yesterday and set to cleaning these little spots up, something I never would have bothered with on any bike other than this one that I had lusted after for so long. When I got to the BB hanger, the crank and rings were in the way. Yipee, I finally had a legitimate reason to use my Crank Extractor thats been rattling around in the bottom of my tool box for umpteen years and my recently purchased (last year) 15mm wrench.
Now when I re-assemble the crank I'll even be able to use that torque wrench my bride gave me so many birthdays ago.
It's such a wonderful feeling to have the right tools handy when one needs them.
Enough said.
