while the first part of your statement is true, i dont agree with the second part and the third part is just plain silly. there are some very intensive fitting classes offered by some reasonably well know shops, serotta comes to mind.

i understand that everone on these forums has enough money invested into their bikes, that theyve fooled themselves into thinking they know everything there is to know about 2 wheels, but a second set of "trained" eyes can make a difference, especially when you consider how much tits some of you, not me, put in. one might come to the conclusion that you all think coaching is also a waste of time, since you already know what your doing. im sure there isnt a rider here who couldnt benefit from chris carmichael's tutalige. good fitters are also certified. before my soapbox gets too large, im only talking about trained fitters, not the lbs owners son, who watched a 10 minute video and thinks they are now a master fitter.

a good fit guy will listen to your needs and try and work with what the rider wants, not what their personal bias leans towards. more areo, we they can do that. back hurts, maybe this adjustment helps. open up hip angles, better climbing position, etc...

small adjustents here and there can make worlds of difference. while i might not be the perfect example, ive been on 2 wheels since 86', done my time in the lbs and industry, so its not my first rodeo. my buddy gave me a free one (go ahead and make jokes) a while ago and we tweaked a total maybe 2 cm over 4 adjustments, it feels better. it might just be in my noodle, but perception is a large part of reality.

$150 sperad over a lifetime of saddle time is pretty cheap in my book
