Don't need to try it until my rotors get contaminated, which is pretty rare for me, but I did have to bed my pads a bit after the last time I did. When I first used discs, tho, I did do the cleaning thing as preventative maintenance unnecessarily until I looked into the subject more...which is why I mentioned it, thought the OP might not be aware...(so I must correct my "always" understood as I didn't know that for a bit).

It's pretty easy to find support via a little googling for the pad bedding material into the rotor, for bicycles as well as other vehicles...like from this tandem site http://www.tandem-bicycle-central.co...sc-brakes.html
