try fartlek training. with such a low volume of training time, there's not enough there for structured interval days, recovery days and volume days. so mix it up every ride. personally, i don't think you can race with less than 10 hrs a week. when i was a cat 1, i trained 20-24 hrs per week.
Then there's the Cat-1 I knew who won at least one of his national golds on
maybe 10 hours/week...
