Hi guys, I'm interested in building an indestructable single speed bike, something i can leave out in cold weather, in rain, all year long. Essentially a college campus beater bike. I'm looking to keep maintenance at a minimum, and I'm interested in keeping it relatively inexpensive. I've seen a few really sweet singlespeeds around campus and am interested in building up something similar. Currently I have a 1997ish cannondale road frame with a decent (albeit old) shimano grupo. What would be the suggested parts for building an indestructable single speed bike? Frames that don't rust, hubs that don't lock up, indestructable bottom brackets, etc.
Also, I've seen handlebars that I can only describe as "bullhorn" shaped. What are the name for these handlebars? Also, do I need a special brake lever to use said handlebars?
Thanks a bunch for your help!
