Have done a lot of night riding and I will suggest that you use two rear lamps. One on solid and one on blink. Two reasons and the obvious one is to be seen. The other reason is that you will not be looking at your rear lights while riding and if the ONE you have fails- you are stuffed.

On front lamps- Rechargable are good- till you run out of battery. I use two- A twin 5 watt Luxion LED rechargable that will give me from 2 to 7 hours use and I also use a Cat eye LED that uses ordinary batteries. The cat eye is the emergency one but Go up on power as below 1 watt on a front lamp is not good.
