I don't see a problem with this, really. Have a blast wasting your money on your hobby, whatever. I spend more of my budget than I should on cycling stuff and I think that makes me stupider (does recognizing this make it even worse?).

The funniest thing about the article is the comments by fixed-gear riders and people bragging about their "shabby chic" rusted Peugeots. ****ty bikes are in fashion because a lot of these kids are too lazy and incompetent to do routine maintenance or learn anything about the lifestyle they are appropriating, and stupid kids with an equal amount of discretionary income to these Wall Street employees are more annoying than out-of-touch bankers who at least have (or had) a job.
