Honestly spinning at a 80-90 rpm cadence gets easy once you find your comfort zone. I find myself spinning at the appropriate cadence without even having to keep track. There is a natural rhythm that my body goes into and it just works. When I'm fighting winds or going uphill my cadence goes down to about 65-70 rpm. when riding with a more experienced rider yesterday I was able to pace myself much better than if I were riding solo and the difference was pretty amazing. Riding with someone that knows that they are doing is invaluable.
