You didn't get hit because you were drinking. You put yourself in a position to get hit because you were drinking and not paying attention to your surroundings. And you should have been wearing a helmet. It would have covered the spot where you now will have a nice big scar.
When was the last time you rode through west Chicago? You don't "put yourself" in these positions. Wearing a helmet could've saved him from that gash in his head, or it could've been "hey he didn't bleed the first hit so let's hit him until he does".
